Combining Ability and Heterosis for Seed Yield and Yield Components in Indian Mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czern and Coss]

Background: Indian mustard is an important oilseed crop which occupies premier position in agriculture. Developing high yielding genotypes a major breeding objective mustard. Present study was conducted at Experimental Farm of Ranaghat, Nadia, West Bengal, during 2017 to 2019. Methods: Line x tester analysis seven lines and five testers carried out identify the heterotic crosses their relationship terms GCA SCA The parents F1 hybrids were evaluated RBD with three replications. Result: variances revealed significant differences for all characters studied, indicating sufficient genetic variability characters. estimates higher than variance that dominance more additive variance. ratio due general specific combining ability less unity traits indicated non-additive gene action predominant over action. Five lines, viz. PM 24, 25, 30, Pusa Agrani, JD-6 one tester, Bold deemed be good combiner seed yield attributing traits. On basis heterosis mid parent as well better effects per plant its component traits, namely, Bold, 30 Seeta, 25 24 Kranti 22 Sarama found very promising further exploitation program.
